Philosophy makes a person to think about the basic foundations of human life, which include our outlook, beliefs, and knowledge. This course initiates the students of philosophy into the world of philosophy by introducing the methods of philosophizing. The object of philosophy is the search for the ultimate cause of all that exists. The end of wisdom is progress towards salvation in religious terms. Philosophy is the mother of all sciences. A brief introduction is given to the different branches of philosophy and on some of the distinctions between Eastern and Western approaches. It is for three principal reasons that we study philosophy: entertainment, instruction, and reformation of mankind (Hume)
