January 26 was a historic day at Good Shepherd Seminary, as the institution celebrated Republic Day and hosted the first-ever inter-major seminary athletic meet.
The Republic Day program commenced at 7:00 AM in front of the administrative block, where Rev. Fr. Abraham Nellickal hoisted the flag, followed by a Republic Day message from Bro. Alen Naduvileveedu.
Inter-Major Seminary Athletic Meet
Following the Holy Mass, the athletic meet began in JMV Hall, inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Rector. During the event, the winners of the jubilee-year short film competition were announced by Fr. George Kuzhippallil, with prizes distributed by Fr. Geo Pulickal. The top three winners were:
Seminarians from St. Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary Mangalapuzha, St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary Vadavathoor, Sanathana MCBS Seminary Thamarassery, OFM Seminary Peravoor, and GSMS Kunnoth participated in the competitions.
In the table tennis final, Mangalapuzha Seminary defeated Vadavathoor Seminary. The 100m, 200m race, shot put, and long jump competitions in the afternoon saw outstanding performances. The championship title was claimed by Mangalapuzha Seminary, with GSMS Kunnoth as the runner-up. The event was widely appreciated as a milestone in Syro-Malabar seminary formation history.
